Introduction to Wolves
Predators at the top of the food chain, there
is evidence that wolves have been in existence since the Pleistocene age, 300,000
years ago. Figuring in the tales and legends of many cultures, wolves are
famous for their dedication to the pack and for mostly monogamous pairing. It
is thought the gray wolf, or timber wolf (Canis lupus) may have been the ancestor
of our modern day dogs.
