Located about 100 miles east-northeast of San Diego. From the west, enter the park on State Highway 78, 12 miles east of Julian, on County Road S-22, 20 miles east of Warner Springs on Route 79.

From the south, enter on County Road S-2 at Ocotillo, just north of Interstate 8. From the east, enter on Route 78, west of Brawley or Road S-22, 10 miles west of Salton City, both east off State Highway 86.
