Lodging Inside the Park
Lodging in Grand Canyon National Park is always booked well in advance. Make reservations as far ahead as possible. Prices range from $68 to $285 per night for 2 people. There is no youth hostel in Grand Canyon National Park. The following lodging facilities are available on the South Rim arranged from most expensive to least expensive rates per night:
- Bright Angel Lodge: Historic, rustic lodge located on the rim of the Grand Canyon. Two restaurants, lounge, gift shop, hair salon and transportation desk.
- Moqui Lodge: Two-story motel located at the park entrance, six miles from rim of the Grand Canyon on the South side. Casual dining. Dates open: April 1 to October 31.
- Maswik Lodge: 288 guestrooms. Located five minutes from the Grand Canyon rim on South side. Cafeteria, sports bar, transportation desk and gift shop.
- Yavapai Lodge: Located 1 1/2 miles from the Grand Canyon Rim on the South side, adjacent to the Mather Shopping Center and Visitor's Center.
- Kachina Lodge: 49 guestrooms with two queen beds, full bath/shower, TV. Located on the South rim of the Grand Canyon. Few steps away from dining and lounge.
- Thunderbird Lodge: 55 guestrooms with 2 queen beds, sofa bed, full bath/shower, TV. Located on the South rim of the Grand Canyon between Bright Angel and Kachina Lodge.
- El Tovar: 78 guestrooms. Elegant, historic hotel located on South rim. Dining room with panoramic views of the Grand Canyon.

Lodging Outside the Park

Camping Inside the Park Online reservations
Camping in the park on the South Rim is generally restricted to established campgrounds, although a few remote sites are available with a Backcountry permit. Campsite reservations are usually booked well in advance. Reservations are accepted up to, but not more than, 3 months in advance by phone, fax, or in writing to:

- Mather Campground offers tent and RV camping (no hook-ups) in Grand Canyon Village. Usage is on a first-come, first-serve basis from December 1 to March 1 of each year (no reservations are accepted during this period).
COST: $12 per site March-May; $15 per site June-August; $12 per site September-November; $10 per site December-February (maximum of 2 vehicles and 6 people per site).

- Trailer Village, adjacent to Mather Campground, offers RV sites with hook-ups. A dump station is located adjacent to Mather Campground and Trailer Village on the South Rim (closed during the winter months).

- Desert View Campground, 26 miles east of Grand Canyon Village, (no hook-ups) is open mid-May through mid-October and operates on a first-come, first-serve basis only.

Camping Outside the Park
- Ten-X Campground is a public campground operated by the U.S. Forest Service (no hook-ups), 3 miles south of Tusayan. Open May 1 through September 30 (maximum of 2 vehicles per site). Ten-X Campground fills early in the day. Group site is available for groups of up to 100 people, reservations required.

~ INNER CANYON ~
Phantom Ranch Lodge
Phantom Ranch, (Rates, availability and reservations on line) nestled on the canyon floor near the confluence of the Colorado River and Bright Angel Creek, is accessible only by foot, mule or river raft. The Ranch, with its rustic cabins constructed in 1922 of native woods and uncut river boulders, offers the ultimate canyon experience.
Cabin accomodations are included in the 2-day mule trips from the rim, while dormitory-style lodging is available to backpackers. Meals are provided to both guests and adventurers who reserve them in advance. The Ranch also provides sack on a reservation-only basis as well. It is possible to camp in Bright Angel Campground, have breakfast served at the Phantom Ranch, then return to the rim with a sack lunch.
Reservations for meals and lodging at Phantom Ranch are absolutely required.
Backcountry Camping
- Bright Angel Campground: Located along Bright Angel Creek at its junction with the Colorado River, 9.3 miles from the Canyon Rim Bright Angel Trailhead. Open all year, the facility has a ranger station, toilets with running water, and even a phone. Reservations are required.
All overnight camping in the inner canyon (below the rim) requires a permit from the Backcountry Office. The inner canyon is accessible only by mule, on foot or by raft on the Colorado River. Permits are required and must be made in person or by mail or fax using the permit request form (telephone requests are not accepted). Applying well in advance is recommended although a small number of permits are sometimes available for the same day. There is a fee of $20 per permit plus an additional fee of $4 per night per person. Address requests for Backcountry permit information (which includes permit form) to:

Persons arriving without permits may put their names on a waiting list for cancellations; go to the Backcountry Office as soon as you arrive at the park. Backcountry Office is open 8 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. MST daily. Names are accepted for the waiting list in person only.
~ NORTH RIM ~
Lodging Inside the Park
Overnight lodging is available on the North Rim As with the South Rim, lodging on the North Rim is booked well in advance. Make reservations as far ahead as possible. Grand Canyon Lodge has a dining room and snack bar. There is no diesel fuel available. Shower and laundry facilities and a small general store are located at the North Rim campground.
- Grand Canyon Lodge: 200 guestrooms and cabins. National landmark hotel located on North rim of the Grand Canyon. Restaurant, lounge, giftshop. Dates open: May 15 to October 15.

North Rim Camping

- North Rim Campground is located inside the park, a mile from the rim (no hook-ups). Reservations are accepted up to, but not more than, 3 months in advance. For May 15 through October 15. Other dates for which the campground is open are on a first-come, first-serve basis. Check in and check out time is 11:00 a.m. Late arrivals should call 928-638-2151 at least 24 hours in advance to ensure a spot will be held. Maximum number, 6 people per site. No more than 7 nights stay is allowed.
